Old Dominion University, in partnership with Rappahannock Community College, offers an interactive distance education program that enables students to earn bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees from a fully accredited university on both the Glenns and Warsaw campuses of RCC. Methods of delivery include live satellite transmission to the RCC campuses from the main campus in Norfolk and online courses, which enable students the convenience of taking selected courses via their home computers. The first two years of undergraduate course work are completed at RCC, or can be transferred in from other Colleges.

RCC students who are considering transferring to Old Dominion University are encouraged to make an appointment with the Old Dominion University site director early in their programs to maximize the number of courses that will transfer. Students who have completed 24 credits and have at least a 2.5 average, may take classes and/or apply for admission to Old Dominion University for most undergraduate programs. Most classes are open to non-degree students.

For a detailed schedule of classes and a registration packet, and/or to schedule an advising appointment, please call 804.758.6795 Glenns or 804.333.6762 Warsaw, or stop by the Old Dominion University TELETECHNET office at the either the Glenns or Warsaw campus. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Registration Information

Returning and newly accepted degree-seeking Old Dominion University students may register at http://www.odu.edu/oduhome/students.shtml and click on Leo Online or by calling (800) 442-7082. To logon to LEO, you must enter your social security number and your pin number (birthdate). To register for a particular course, you must enter the course reference number/ call number (this is the five-digit number listed in the next to the last column of the schedule). New non-degree students must complete a registration form and tuition rate determination form. Once you have registered through LEO or completed your registration form, you are obligated to pay tuition by the tuition deadline. You will not be withdrawn from class for failure to attend class or pay tuition.

Registration Holds

If you try to register and there is a hold on your account, please check to see what the hold is using LEO Online. If it is financial, you must have the hold removed by talking with the Office of Finance at 1.800.224.1450. If it is due to the WSPT, you must take and pass the WSPT prior to registration. If it is an advising hold, please contact our office at 804.758.6795 or 804.333.6762 and leave us your name and university identification number. We will remove the advising hold. Please note that the advising hold will appear every couple of semesters. It is in your best interest to meet with the site director and/or schedule a telephone appointment with your departmental advisor on main campus to make sure you are taking the correct classes.

Advising

Office hours are 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday and other hours by appointment. To schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor to discuss admission procedures, degree programs, or student support services, please call the Site Director at 804. 796.4463 or the Assistant Site Director at 804.333.6762.

Orientation

Orientation will be broadcast live from Norfolk and will introduce you to many departments and contacts from main campus as well as give you an opportunity to ask questions. A video taped copy of the orientation will be available for check-out if you are unable to attend. Orientation for new TTN students is held every semester, please see the Site Director for specific dates and times.

WSPT

The Writing Sample Placement Test (WSPT) is a requirement of all degree-seeking undergraduate students. You must pass the WSPT prior to registering for your second semester with Old Dominion. The 90-minute exam will be offered throughout the semester. Please check with site staff for dates and times.

Student Responsibility

Students are held individually responsible for the information contained in the University Catalog. Failure to read and comply with University regulations will not exempt students from whatever penalties they may incur. The catalog is available online at http://www.odu.edu/ao/affairs/catalog/catalog.htm. It is your responsibility to make sure you have the necessary pre-requisites for a particular class and/or degree program.

Financial Aid

If you are eligible for financial aid, please make sure that you have completed all of the necessary paperwork. Financial aid is available to degree-seeking students. All students requesting financial aid for Spring 2005 must have filed a 2004-2005 FAFSA by February 15, 2004. Financial aid packets are available upon request from the site office. Students may find it easy to file their FAFSA directly online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The school code for ODU is 003728. Each semester of enrollment, students must complete an Enrollment form and a Consortium Agreement form to ensure that they will receive the appropriate aid amount (regardless of whether or not they are continuing to take community college courses). These forms are also available at the site office. To check the status of your financial aid, please access LEO Online. Problems and questions that cannot be answered by the site staff may be answered by Lishena Ruffin in the Office of Financial Aid, (757) 683-3675, lruffin@odu.edu. In addition, students may find scholarship information on the ODU website at www.odu.edu.

Tuition and Billing Information

Your tuition bill is available by accessing LEO Online, which may be paid by check, money order, or credit card. If you would like to pay by credit card, please call LEO by telephone at (800) 442-7082. The university also offers a payment plan where students may spread payments over four months (visit your site director for details). Questions about tuition and billing should be directed to the Office of Finance at 1.800.224.1450. The site office does not accept tuition payment.  Please send your tuition payment to Old Dominion University Cashier Office, PO Box 2058 Norfolk, VA 23529-2058.

Syllabi

Syllabi are available on the web at at  http://www.dl.odu.edu/. Once there, click the Distance Learning Course Syllabi under Frequently Requested Links.  Choose the appropriate College, then click on your course.  The course page will indicate whether there is a syllabus available for download.  If it is not available, check back closer to the start of class.  Students are advised to print their syllabus prior to attending the first class.

Books

To order your textbooks, please go to http://direct.mbsbooks.com/odu.htm or call (800) 325-3252. MBS will provide a shipping discount if you order your books online. You will need your course name and number as well as the 5-digit call number when you place the order. Please allow approximately one week for the books to be shipped to your home.

Web-Based Courses

Please visit the syllabus or department's web site prior to registration to make sure you have the computer capability necessary and know the course requirements. Some web courses require you to login at a specified time and others on a weekly basis. Some require you to attend a televised on-air session at the site during the semester. Exams for web-based courses are usually administered at the site.

Classes by VideoTape

Videotapes are available to students when an illness or emergency prevents you from attending class. They are not to be used instead of attending class. As a rule of thumb, remember that there is no substitute for class attendance. If you plan to miss more than three classes in a semester, you must purchase the tapes from main campus. To do this, you must receive written permission from your instructor and you must complete the required forms. You will not be allowed to use the tapes provided for students attending class. Tapes may be ordered from main campus at a cost of $11 each. This cost is in addition to regular tuition and books. Please contact the site staff for a video tape form. Please note that not all instructors/departments permit students to take a class by tape. For instance, Special Education, Human Services Counseling, and the College of Business do not permit students to take classes by tape.
