Rappahannock Community College Advising Mission Statement
Advising is an interaction and shared responsibility between students and academic advisors cooperatively invested in developing and reaching the student’s academic and career goals.
Phase I: New Student Counselor Session
Upon applying to Rappahannock Community College, each student will participate in a conference with an RCC counselor, at which time he/she will receive an RCC Welcome and important information to get him/her on the path to success.
Phase II: First Academic Advising Meeting
After successfully registering for the first semester, students are assigned a faculty advisor who will continue to help with a semester-by-semester plan and a tentative college career plan to explore what may or may not happen beyond college and training.
Phase III: Follow-up Advising Contact
Continued contact between advisor and advisee is essential for reaching the student's academic and career goals. Therefore, follow-up activities will reoccur throughout the student's enrollment at RCC and are dependent upon the advisor and advisee taking the initiative to maintain the advising relationship. |
